Privacy Policy

TextLoop is a text message marketing service. Local businesses use it to send texts to customers who have agreed to get them. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It covers two groups of people:

The short version for subscribers

  • We collect your phone number, and anything else you choose to give, only to send you the texts you signed up for.
  • We never sell, rent or share your mobile number or your text sign-up with third parties or affiliates for their marketing purposes.
  • Text STOP to any message to stop getting texts. Text HELP for help.
  • Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply.

Information we collect

From subscribers:

  • Your mobile number, and your first name, email or birthday if you give them.
  • A record of your consent: when and where you signed up, the exact wording you agreed to, and your IP address and browser when you signed up online.
  • The texts you send and receive with the business, delivery status, and whether you opted out.
  • Which links in texts you tapped, and purchases the business links to a text, so it can see which texts work.
  • The kinds of texts you chose to get, such as deals, reminders or news.

From business customers:

  • Account details: name, email, password (stored encrypted), business name, address, phone and website.
  • Billing details. Payments are handled by Stripe; we never see or store full card numbers.
  • Texting registration details needed by phone carriers, such as legal business name and tax ID. These go to our texting provider for carrier registration.
  • Content you add: customer lists, messages, photos, website text and settings.
  • How you use the app, along with device and log information that helps us keep it secure and working.

How we use information

  • To send the texts and emails people asked for, and to deliver replies.
  • To keep consent records and honor opt-outs, as phone carriers and the law require.
  • To run, secure, support and improve TextLoop, and to prevent spam, fraud and abuse.
  • To bill business customers and send them account notices.
  • To build features the business turns on, such as writing help, automatic replies and website building. These features use an AI service to process the text needed for that task.
  • To meet legal obligations and respond to lawful requests.

Who we share information with

We share information only with service providers that help us run TextLoop, under contracts that limit how they may use it. They include hosting and database providers (Vercel and Supabase), our texting provider and phone carriers (Twilio), payments (Stripe), email delivery (Resend) and AI writing help (Anthropic). We may also share information when the law requires it, to protect people's safety or rights, or as part of a merger or sale of our business. In a sale, this policy would continue to apply to the information.

No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text sign-up information and consent are excluded from all sharing with third parties, except the service providers above that deliver the texts.

A business that uses TextLoop decides what to text its subscribers and controls its own customer list. Its own privacy practices also apply to the information it collects.

Cookies

We use cookies that are needed to keep you signed in and to keep the service secure. Link tracking in texts uses a short link that records a tap. We don't use advertising cookies or sell browsing data.

How long we keep information

We keep information while an account is active and as long as needed to provide the service. Consent and opt-out records are kept for at least five years after the last text, because they prove a person agreed or asked to stop. After a business closes its account, we delete or anonymize its data within a reasonable time, except records we must keep for legal reasons.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, and each business can see only its own data. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect information and will notify affected people of a breach as the law requires.

Your choices and rights

  • Text STOP to stop getting texts from a business. Reply START to rejoin.
  • Business customers can view and edit their information in the app, and can export or delete their data by contacting us.
  • Depending on where you live (for example California, Virginia, Colorado and other US states), you may have the right to know what personal information we hold about you, and to ask us to correct it, delete it, or not sell or share it. We don't sell personal information. To make a request, email us. We will verify the request and won't treat you differently for making it.

Children

TextLoop is not meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top. If the changes are significant, we will tell business customers by email or in the app.
